Description:
Mary Poppins Bert Feeling Grand

Notes:

Cane: Bronze.
Particulars:
Special Note: There was a special backstamped set of Mary Poppins available to Gold Circle Dealers and The Disney Store. The set included Mary Poppins, Bert, the Penguin Waiter and the Penguin Trio.
All four sculptures were packaged together in one box and have a gold-painted backstamp featuring the year of the film and the phrase "A Little Bit of Magic".
The set includes all pieces except the Opening Title and Table and Chairs Accessory Items.
Originally the unique backstamps were supposed to be gold in color; however, the factory made an error and all backstamps on the 700 sets produced are green. The date (1964) and phrase still set them apart from normal production.
The sets made their debut at The Disney Store as part of a special art and collectibles event, February 8-18, 2001.
WDCC Gold Circle Dealers introduced the sets in March.

A magical English nanny, Mary Poppins, arrives at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Banks, facing the park at No. 17, Cherry Tree Lane in London, to the delight of their young children, Jane and Michael. The proper English father is too preoccupied with his responsibility at the bank. The mother, an ardent suffragette, is not really aware that their two children, left in the care of one nanny after another, are unhappy and unable to communicate with the parents they truly love. Mary Poppins has come to change all this. She settles into the house and soon has everyone wrapped around her little finger. Mary, along with her friend Bert and a host of chimney sweeps, teaches the children how to have fun, and in so doing makes the Banks household a happier place. By the time she opens her umbrella and flies off on a beautiful spring evening, the family is united together in the park, flying a kite.

WALT DISNEY CLASSICS FIGURINES - The Classics Collection started in 1992 with three scenes, Bambi, Cinderella, and Fantasia's Sorcerer Apprentice. Many other series have since been introduced. Some figurines are limited, and some have been retired. Some of these figurines have risen high on the secondary market. The figurines are made of porcelain, and the process is similar to that use to make Hummel figurines. Individual pieces are molded, put together, and fired in an oven. Then they are painted and fired again. Each figurine is marked on the bottom, signifying the year it was produced. The marks represent significant milestones in Disney history. The figurines with the first year mark are usually the most desirable.
